Hydrogen will give trucking long-haul fuel option

While electric trucks are poised to take over hauling cargo locally and regionally, the industry is looking at hydrogen fuel cell rigs for longer distances. Nikola, Freightliner, Kenworth and Volvo all are developing the technology. Trucking fleets see advantages over battery-electric trucks. Fuel cell trucks don't need heavy batteries, freeing payload for revenue-generating cargo. Hydrogen fuels up in about the same time as a diesel truck, avoiding long delays. And the fuel tanks allow trucks to go long distances between fueling.
