Mary Beth Vander Schaaf is the senior director of editorial operations at Automotive News. She is a lifelong Detroiter and joined Automotive News in 1982 after graduating from Marquette University with a B.A. in journalism. In the past four decades, she has served as a reporter, news editor, assistant managing editor, deputy managing editor and managing editor. In her current role, which she began in 2022, she oversees production of the newspaper. Vander Schaaf is in charge of many special projects, such as 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry, which she has led since its inception in 2000.
