White House nixes automakers' plea for California pact on emissions

California's emissions rules covering light vehicles have been adopted by more than a dozen states. Eighteen states, including California, have vowed to sue the Trump administration if it freezes vehicle emissions requirements at 2020 levels through 2026. (BLOOMBERG)

The White House is rejecting a bid from domestic and foreign automakers to restart talks with California over vehicle emission regulations.
