Automakers ask Treasury for leniency in EV tax credit's battery sourcing rules

WASHINGTON — Automakers are asking the U.S. Treasury Department for more leniency in strict electric vehicle tax credit rules that have slashed eligibility and challenged the industry to shift the battery supply chain away from China.
