Proposed GM battery plant in Mich. wins first round of tax breaks

The Lansing City Council voted unanimously Monday in favor of a Renaissance Zone tax break for General Motors Co. to construct a $2.5 billion battery manufacturing plant on land adjacent to its Delta Township Assembly Plant west of Lansing. The land would be annexed into the city of Lansing for tax purposes under an agreement the Lansing council and Delta Township board both agreed to Monday.
