Honda, Nissan formally end plans for megamerger

TOKYO — Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi have officially ended plans to combine in a megamerger that could have created the world’s No. 3 auto group and buttressed the Japanese players in a race against new rivals from China in the age of software-packed electric vehicles.
