Cruise dropping robotaxi effort as GM shifts focus to driver-assist tech

General Motors’ Cruise unit is abandoning its effort to develop robotaxis, and the automaker instead will use the self-driving technology business to work on advanced driver-assistance features that eventually may lead to fully autonomous personal vehicles.
