A victory lap for Detroit car design

The 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado, the first American car with a front-wheel-drive layout in three decades, helped usher in a new formal vocabulary of car design. It started out in 1962 as a styling project for GM's Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick studios.   (DETROIT INSTITUTE OF ARTS)
