Kia’s smallest vehicle, the fourth-generation Rio, was discontinued after the 2023 model year. It shared a fate similar to its Hyundai counterpart, the Accent subcompact sedan, which did not return for the 2023 model year. Kia, like other mass market brands, plans to use crossovers rather than cars as an entry-level gateway for mostly young, first-time buyers.
