Cummins to pay record $1.675B penalty over engine emission defeat devices in Ram trucks

WASHINGTON — Truck engine maker Cummins Inc. agreed in principle to pay a $1.675 billion penalty for installing emissions defeat devices on hundreds of thousands of engines, the largest-ever penalty for a Clean Air Act violation, the Justice Department said on Friday.
