
In 1990, Julie Herrera was a college student and, she says, “sick of being broke.” Hunting for a summer job, she came across an ad from a Chevrolet dealer in San Antonio seeking an aftermarket salesperson. “I had no idea what that meant,” she says, but her father was a car salesman so it felt a little familiar. Herrera got the job and started selling car-care products and early mobile phones.
