The U.S. light-vehicle market continues to grow, though at a slower pace. Sales rose an estimated 5.1 percent to 3.75 million in the first quarter, GlobalData projected this week, versus 8.3 percent in the fourth quarter, 8.4 percent in the first three months of last year and 13 percent for all of 2023. With inventory solidly above 2.5 million and rising, the market is getting as competitive as it's been since before the pandemic.
