Canadian auto theft down from peak, but stakeholders divided on prevention methods

Police crackdowns and heightened consumer vigilance helped tamp down auto theft rates in Canada for the first time in four years in 2024, but the root cause of the problem remains largely unaddressed, according to Bryan Gast, vice-president of investigative services at Équité Association.
