Chip supplier for GM, Mercedes qualifies for $750 million U.S. grant

WASHINGTON — Wolfspeed, a chipmaker for General Motors and Mercedes, is set to receive $750 million in government grants for its new North Carolina silicon carbide wafer manufacturing plant, the U.S. Commerce Department said Tuesday.
