Franchised auto dealers have enough reputational issues without having to invent new ones to further soil their image among the general public. So when General Motors put a new policy in place at the beginning of the month that prohibits its dealerships from reporting a vehicle as sold before it is delivered to a customer, that's a step in the right direction — albeit one that should never have been necessary.
