Hard work for UAW democracy has just begun

A federal judge in Detroit last week gaveled in a fundamental change to the UAW, approving the overwhelming results of a member referendum that will see the union transition this year to the direct election of its top officers, with each of its more than 400,000 active members able to cast their own ballot.
