MIAMI — Longtime auto dealer Ron Esserman died July 20 at 93. He bought his first store, a Dodge dealership in Chicago, in 1950. He moved to Miami in 1966 and over the next 20 years acquired 17 franchises under the South Motors banner. Esserman was president of the group until he sold the business in 1988. He then established Esserman Automotive Group, selling Acura, Kia, Volkswagen, Honda and Nissan brands. He was CEO from 1989 until his death.
