The wraps will come off the production version of Silk-FAW's S9 plug-in hybrid hypercar at Milan Design Week early next month. The S9 is expected to have a price tag of around €1.5 million ($1.8 million) and rival the supercars made by Ferrari and Lamborghini. Management at Silk-FAW, a collaboration between Chinese automaker FAW and U.S. automotive startup Silk EV, is peppered with former executives from those two luxury sports car companies. The S9 will use a newly developed 4.0-liter V-8 gasoline engine capable of about 880 hp, with electric turbocharging. Two electric motors increase its power to about 1,400 hp.
