Dodge is celebrating 50 years of the 1969 Charger Daytona with a new version for 2020. The company will produce just 501 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary Editions, the same tally as in 1969.
It features an extra 10 hp for a total of 717 hp. The ’69 car had a huge wing and streamlined nose and was the first car to break an average lap speed of 200 mph. That record stood for 17 years. Only 501 of the original Charger Daytonas were produced, because that was the minimum required to be homologated for NASCAR.
The 50th Anniversary Edition comes with a Daytona decklid, rear-quarter decal with a matching spoiler and is available in four colors: B5 blue, triple nickel, white knuckle and pitch black. It is equipped with the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine from the modern car.
Inside, it features black faux suede performance seats with blue stitching, Daytona logos, a suede headliner, carbon fiber and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
Dealer orders will open up in the fall and deliveries will start early next year.
