WHAT: Two-piston diesel common rail fuel pump
INNOVATION: Stanadyne’s high-pressure pump uses a patented eccentric drive pumping operation designed for durability against low-lubricity fuels and demanding service life. The quiet two-piston pump features a compact modular design for easy integration and a low part count that makes it easy to build and adaptable to a wide range of engine configurations in commercial, heavy-duty and off-highway vehicles.

JUDGE CITATION: Stanadyne has developed a unique fuel-lubricated injector pump to feed the high-pressure common rail of compression-ignition (diesel) engines. By using a revolutionary, patented, sliding and rotating motion cam device, Stanadyne has dramatically reduced pump size, weight, cost, and energy consumption. Also, pump durability, essential to the heavy-duty engine market, has improved dramatically. The pump is highly resistant to wear associated with dirty fuels, avoids fuel contamination of conventional oil-lubricated pumps, and is capable of injection pressure to 3,000 bar. With this innovation Stanadyne has captured much of the replacement pump and new-engine pump markets, and positioned itself well for new compression-ignition fuels under development.
