INNOVATION: Magna is using augmented reality to provide enhanced visual inspection for production quality, working through a user-operated tablet and a full-scale computer-aided design overlay to recognize part defects. The tablet guides operators through a standardized step-by-step sequence to verify the quality of the parts. The system is capable of handling variability in part appearance and lighting conditions. It allows for a more than 40 percent reduction in inspection cycle time.
