Judge’s Citation: Valeo’s electric supercharger is the first electric driven compressor that will be in mass production. The use of an electric motor allows a faster response time and therefore eliminates the “turbo-lag” effect that is perceived today on traditional turbocharged engines. Designed for both 12V and upcoming 48V applications, Valeo’s electric supercharger integrates its own electronic control unit connected via CAN bus to the vehicle. With the electric supercharger, the turbocharger can be tuned to work in a specific area and therefore achieve a higher turbo efficiency. This product is key technology enabler for the trend in engine downsizing (and further improve fuel efficiency) without compromise to vehicle performance.
