Audi leans on crossovers, including an EV

Audi's first fully electric vehicle will arrive in the U.S. next year, but the brand will continue to rely on a growing portfolio of traditionally powered crossovers to extend its industry-leading sales growth in this country. Meanwhile, it will continue to freshen its existing portfolio of sedans and coupes.As Volkswagen Group's premium brand rolls through its schedule of product refreshes and redesigns, it will incorporate its latest technology, including its "virtual cockpit" digital instrument cluster and — when it gets U.S. regulatory approval — more integrated levels of Audi's autonomous driving technology.A3/S3/RS 3: Audi's smallest sedan will be redesigned in 2020 and moved onto Volkswagen Group's MQB platform.A4/S4: A freshening is planned in 2020.A5/S5/RS 5: A freshening is expected in 2020.A6/S6:Redesigned sedans are due to arrive in the U.S. in 2019, starting with turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 3.0-liter V-6 engines. The e-tron plug-in hybrid global powertrain is also expected to be available in the U.S.A7/S7/RS 7: A new generation of Audi's fastback sedan will arrive in 2020. The redesign will be closely based on the Prologue concept series. Redesigns of the sporty S7 and high-performance RS 7 variants will follow, as will an e-tron plug-in hybrid model.A8/S8:The redesigned A8 flagship sedan arrives late this year, but without, for now, Traffic Jam Pilot, which Audi says will be the first-ever Level 3 autonomous driving system. Traffic Jam Pilot allows hands-free driving on separated highways at speeds of up to 37 mph.
