Mini has a major problem: how to keep growing in a market dominated by light trucks. The brand is staying true to the core Mini silhouette, rather than venturing into new body styles such as a roadster or sedan. It's also leaning into electrification, offering battery-only and plug-in hybrid variants.
Hardtop: The 2019 models carry a modified version of Mini's characteristic circular headlights. The rear lights, when paired with optional LED headlights, feature a new Union Jack design to evoke the look of the British flag. Inside, new seat materials and other new surface trims are available. A new 6.5-inch instrument panel display is standard with a new 8.8-inch touch-screen display available as an option.
The Hardtop could get a redesign in 2021, with a hybrid variant possible in 2022.
Electric: A new full-electric Mini will go on sale in the U.S. in late 2019. A new body style is not expected.
