The Buick Regal is likely to have a longer wheelbase and a more spacious interior after an upcoming redesign, based on newly released images of its European sibling, the Vauxhall Insignia. The Insignia is nearly 400 pounds lighter than its predecessor, General Motors said, allowing it to take greater advantage of a new eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring. Its roof has been lowered by 1.1 inches and its wheelbase stretched 3.6 inches, though overall length is unchanged. Details on the Regal are expected around the time of the Insignia's planned debut in March at the Geneva auto show.
