DETROIT -- Chrysler Group said today its new supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 Hellcat engine has been certified at 707 hp and 650 pounds-feet of torque, topping the most powerful versions of the SRT Viper, the Chevy Corvette and the Ford Mustang.
The engine is to debut in dealerships later this year in the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT and will later be used in a supercharged Dodge Charger SRT.
When it arrives, it will be the most powerful V-8 that the automaker has ever produced.

When it introduced the 2015 Challenger SRT in May, Dodge said it would come with two key fobs. The black key fob limits the driver to a reduced engine output of 500 horsepower, while the red key fob unlocks the Hellcat engine’s full horsepower and torque.
