Dauch knew the troops at Chrysler, Iacocca recalls

Using his trademark salty language, former Chrysler Chairman Lee Iacocca once marveled at the relationship Richard E. Dauch had with Chrysler's legion of foremen in the 1980s. Dauch, who died this month at 71, was Iacocca's manufacturing honcho before leaving to lead the group that formed American Axle in 1994.
