Model X prototype heralds Tesla's first crossover

The Model X crossover will ride on the same platform as the Model S sedan, and come with a choice of the same 230- and 300-mile battery packs that come with the Model S. (TESLA)

LOS ANGELES -- Tesla Motors on Thursday unveiled the second step of its product plan, a crossover with innovative upward-swinging, double-hinged rear doors and performance that the automaker says will out-accelerate a Porsche 911.
