NTSB calls for safety measures to combat surge in pedestrian deaths

The NTSB says better data-collection measures are needed to address the rising number of pedestrian deaths, which surged 46 percent from 2009 to 2016, the last full year of available data. The total number of deaths, 5,987, was the most since 1990.
