Are automakers addicted to in-car features overload?

Rather than trying to imitate smartphones for in-vehicle controls, carmakers should look for inspiration to designs from their history, such as the 1964 Mustang radio, says designer David Lyon of Pocketsquare, who advocates modernizing such simple designs. Systems such as the 2016 Audi Q7 can overwhelm drivers with complexity, he says.
