VW takes Passat upscale to escape mid-market struggles in Europe

VW has said the new European Passat will have smaller dimensions than the current model, but offer more interior space.

BERLIN (Reuters) -- Volkswagen is steering the mid-sized Passat upscale in Europe, aiming to lift the model clear of a struggling market for mid-priced cars without alienating its core family customers.
