NHTSA moves ahead on backup-camera regulation

U.S. safety regulators on Tuesday placed backup cameras on a list of recommended light-vehicle features under the federal New Car Assessment Program. But consumer groups want a mandate in place.

WASHINGTON -- After several delays, the Obama administration is reviewing a revised rule that could push automakers to install backup cameras in more of their cars and trucks.
