DETROIT -- The auto industry is well represented on a new list of the world’s most influential chief marketing officers.
The second annual CMO Influence Study, conducted by marketing firm Appinions for Forbes magazine, analyzed the top 500 companies from the Forbes Global 2000 Biggest Public Companies list to determine the most influential CMOs in the world.
The study found that eight of the world’s 20 most influential chief marketing officers work in the auto industry. Here are the findings, by rank.

- No. 4: Jim Farley, Ford
- No. 8: Alan Batey, General Motors
- No. 10: Michael Sprague, Kia
- No. 11: Joachim Schmidt, Daimler
- No. 13: Mike Accavitti, Honda
- No. 15: Jerome Stoll, Renault
- No. 17: Steve Shannon, Hyundai
Also on the list: Bernhard Maier, Porsche, No. 27; Alain Visser, Volvo, 31; Peter Schwarzenbauer, BMW, 39; and Christian Klingler, Volkswagen Group, 48.
